Next steps on Functions
Before we break out into groups, letâs talk through the rest of your project:
Problem feedback
We will be spending the bulk of today going through your proposals. Here are our groups:
-
Bhroovi, Kirsten, Kritika, Rodrigo, Shaurya, Vera, Wenny
-
Alexis, Angelica, Emily, JC, Rebecca, Sachi
-
Cristina, Dhruvil, Hana, Sabrina, Vicky, Zil
-
Hannah, Hao, Lucy, Sarah, Shaoran, Xinyi
Hereâs how weâd like to structure this, today:
- We both want to see everyoneâs proposals, so youâll see us for less than 5Â minutes
- Very briefly introduce us to your three problems, in a couple minutesâhigh level!
- We will each have three âvotes,â which we will assign/distribute to your problems
- Weâll treat this like dot-votingâwe could give all three votes to one problem, or one to each, or any 1/2 combination
- Note the votes in your proposal document, starting an emoji tally under each: đĄ
- When we are not at your table, you will do the same thing with your tablemates!
- So likewiseârun through all your problems quickly and then do a âshow of handsâ (fingers) round of voting for each: âď¸Â âď¸Â đ¤
- Stick to the same three-votes-each as we hadâassigning them however you like
- With your votes, keep in mind feasibilityâif it canât be built, itâs not right for this
- Add these up with our tally under each problem, like so: đĄ đĄ đĄ đĄ đĄ đĄ
- You can be somewhat less rushed here (cap it to 10Â minutes each)âtalk through them in more detail than you did with us, and take feedback/suggestions too
- At the end you should have 21 (or 24, for the big group) đĄ in your doc
This will give you an idea of what is resonating with us and your classmatesâthe goal here being to help you narrow down to one of your problems, going forward.
That said, you are not beholden to this voting! Which problem you will pursue is still up to you. But if your heart is set on a problem that didnât find traction, you likely need to refine/develop the idea.
For next week
-
Youâll be completing the next phase of your project, Project roadmap. With the input and feedback from today, select one of your problems to move forward withâexpanding your proposal, listing/ranking its features, and planning out a roadmap.
When you are done, submit a link to your (new) document:
-
As we note over there, your roadmap should also include what you are working on for next weekâbeyond just the roadmap itself. You will need to make other progress!
That might mean visual sketching as another means to get your ideas out. Maybe this takes the form of codeâlike a CodePen for an API integration. (We can dream!) Or it could be visual mood-boarding, UI explorations, a site-map, or wire-framing in Figma. But you need to be moving!
